Cuban comfort food with soul

For this editorial photography session at Q Bola in Round Rock, Texas, we brought our own lighting equipment to explore the restaurant’s atmosphere through a different visual perspective.

The warm hanging lamps, colorful interiors, and contrasting shades offered an interesting setting for a photographic study of light, space, and human presence.

As an Austin restaurant photographer, Javier Shirley approaches each location as a visual composition rather than simply a commercial setting. At Q Bola, the object was to create images that captured the character of the space, from the architectural details of the bar to the quiet concentration of a bartender preparing a drink. Each photograph became part of a larger story about atmosphere and everyday life.
